Approximately two-fifths of the Fund's annual grants budget
is decided by the individual trustees on the basis of their own investigations.
A few additional grants are proposed by members of the Fund staff and
Investment Committee. These discretionary awards are not made on the basis
of unsolicited letters or proposals;
organizations seeking Fund support must apply through the regular Grant Programs.
